NTT DATA Corp acquires majority stake in Vertex Software
Pune, November 15, NTT DATA Corporation, a listed subsidiary of Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corporation and the largest IT services company in Japan is all set to acquire a majority stake in Pune based Vertex Software Pvt. Ltd., a company engaged in product development, mobile applications and web applications development.

A definitive agreement in this regard has already been signed between the two companies. This was announced by Shinichi Yamada, Chief Technology Officer and Executive Vice President, NTT DATA Corporation in a Press Conference held here today.

NTT DATA will now acquire 68.7% of outstanding equity of Vertex and the balance will remain with founders and senior executives of Vertex. Mitsui & Co. Ltd. of Japan and Logicsoft Inc of USA, the companies that had initially invested in Vertex will now transfer their share to NTT DATA Corporation. Board of Directors of both these companies has approved this transaction and the completion of regulatory approvals and equity transfer process is expected to get over by December 11, 2007.

Post this transaction, Vertex would continue to operate independently but would be positioned as an 'NTT DATA Group Company'. These two will jointly execute a Business Plan that entails growth in provisioning of IT Services to existing and new customers in US, Japan and also to NTT DATA itself.

By the end of financial year 2009, NTT DATA plans to have 2000 offshore based personnel. Vertex plans to expand its workforce from the existing team of 205 and be a significant group company of NTT DATA offering offshore based IT services. Majority of personnel would be recruited from the reputed engineering colleges from in and around Pune. These candidates will undergo a 6 months training to develop their technical and language skills and would then be absorbed in Vertex.

For Vertex Software, its association with NTT will fuel its expansion plans, allowing it to increase and upgrade its office infrastructure in Pune. Currently it has offices in Pune, Tokyo in Japan and Boston in USA. Vertex Software will work in close association with NTT DATA group companies in US and Europe leading to expanded geographical reach and increase in revenues.
